Before
the chamber started its first ever treatment, it underwent various tests,
quality and safety checked using the US Navy methods for pressure
integrity and leak testing. The
system passed this tests with flying colors.
Batangas,
being known for its beautiful coasts and dive sites, will also benefit
from this. More divers will
flock to the province since they know that a recompression chamber is just
within their reach. Commercial
diving facilities in the city and nearby areas are more assured now since
the chamber is just within the heart of Batangas City and accessible to
all should an accident happen.
This
life-saving equipment has a large
twin lock system with the main lock 6 feet in diameter and has two full
size bunks that can accommodate sitting or lying patients.

The
chamber is not only for the divers but will also be used for medical
purposes. Persons who suffering from chronic wounds, burns,
gangrene or diabetic foot can be treated in the chamber and the
possibility for amputation of the involved limb will be lessened.

Approximately
8 persons can be treated at the same time inside the chamber in a wound care
situation and two patients for decompression sickness.
